And to achieve a whiter and brighter smile, most of us turn to teeth whitening treatment. The treatment is either professionally done or in the comfort of our home. After investing time, money, and effort to whiten our teeth, of course, we want to enjoy the result as long as possible. So we will be giving you some aftercare tips such as food and beverages to avoid after the teeth whitening treatment.

Foods to Avoid After Teeth Whitening Treatment

Going through the teeth whitening procedure will, of course, cost you money. So who would not want to make the result last a long time? To enjoy the best result of this effective procedure, you need to be aware of what you eat and drink. At least for the first 48 hours after the treatment.

Dark-colored liquid

Try to avoid coffee, tea, cola, red wine, or colorful juices. These colorful drinks can stain your newly whitened teeth instantly. If you can’t stay away with your morning cup of coffee or tea, drink it through a straw. This way, it can limit your beverages’ contact with your teeth.

Dark-colored foods

Stay away from dark-colored foods like berries, red pasta sauce, soy sauce, ketchup, barbeque sauce, and dark chocolate. Avoid snacks with powdered cheese, too, like Cheetos and cheese popcorn.

Acidic foods and beverages

You should avoid acidic fruits like lemon, oranges, or other citrus fruits after your teeth whitening treatment. Examples of acidic beverages that should be avoided after treatment are soft drinks and alcohol in general. Energy drink is also a no-no.

Tobacco

Tobacco products can stain newly whitened teeth. It is best to avoid smoking or using other tobacco products for the first few days after the treatment. Or it is best to quit smoking to maintain bright, white teeth.

As a general rule, it is best to stay away from food that can leave a visible stain on a white shirt at least 24 hours after the teeth whitening treatment.

It is safe to eat white-colored vegetables like cauliflower. Chicken is also safe, so with turkey, white fish, white rice, white pasta, and white sauce. Colorless beverages like water and non-acidic fruit are also safe to take after the treatment.

And most importantly, always practice proper oral hygiene. Brush at least two times a day. Floss every day to remove plaque that brushing alone cannot reach. You can also use Minerals Enamel Booster after the whitening treatment to strengthen tooth enamel and seal the stain.
