Broken Capillaries

hands in blue gloves doing lamprobe treatment to the girls face: text: broken capillaries Unsightly spider veins and red blotches on the face affect millions of people. While they may not be medical emergencies, many clients would like to eliminate these unattractive and sometimes embarrassing distractions to their natural beauty. These veins can affect self-esteem and require to be concealed with makeup. Broken capillaries are enlarged blood vessels under the skin. They can occur anywhere but are commonly found on the face or legs.

Fortunately, facial vein treatments are available from Lamprobe-certified estheticians here at Brilliant Massage & Skin in Burlington, Vermont.

What causes broken capillaries?

We do not know all of the causes, but they are often related to heredity, oral contraceptives, hormone therapy, sun exposure, or the aging process. They may also be related to rosacea, another treatable skin condition. They can be caused when people squeeze at their skin, too harsh extractions, and even sneezing.

Will capillary treatments work on my face?

Before treatment, our staff will review your medical history to determine how long you have had a problem with capillaries. We will need to determine your skin type and if you have had any prior skin treatments on your face. We will discuss your objectives and fully explain your treatment and projected outcome.

Do capillary treatments hurt?

Most clients describe the sensation as the snap of a rubber band on the skin as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece.  After treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.

How long do capillary treatments take?

Treatments usually take several minutes depending on the number of vessels treated and their location.

Will capillaries return after treatment?

Optimal results can be maintained only if you apply sunscreen on the treated area and avoid sun exposure. Over time new veins can grow in, but these, too, can be erased.

Are capillary treatments safe?

Yes. Lamprobe treatment treats only the targeted vessels, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. However, some bruising or redness may occur. The risk of scarring is small.

What will my recovery be like after capillary treatments?

After your Lamprobe treatment, post-treatment discomfort is minimal.

After the treatment, some swelling, redness, and minor blistering may occur on rare occasions. Following treatment, some bruising may appear around the treated areas. The bruising can be covered with makeup and eventually fade away in about 2 weeks.

Following any treatment, your skin may feel tender for several days. You should follow the after-care instructions, avoid harsh skin cleansers, and use sunscreen.
